Constant disconnects and high ping

So I've been having this problem for months. My internet will experience extremely high latency, normally followed by total packet loss and loss of connection for anywhere from 30 seconds to 6 hours. Power cycling does nothing, I've tried that 100 times. Other devices on the wireless network experience the same slowdown and loss of connection, including laptops and phones. Nothing is connected by ethernet cable unfortunately.

I connect to a wireless router/modem combo with a wireless adapter inside my desktop PC. I get 4 bars most of the time. When I disconnect it still detects my modem with 4 bars in windows.

I am unable to access my router settings page when this happens, and ping tests to my router either timeout or take 3000-4000ms.

Applicable hardware:

Router: Netgear 7550
Wireless Adapter: TP-LINK TL-WDN4800

Hopefully I can get some answers before things start to get smashed. Thanks in advance and let me know if you need any other info.

I bet your aunt has an iPhone. For some odd reason, they are absolute bandwidth hogs and will prioritize every last erg they can get their grubby paws on. The fix for that is real easy. You need to go into your router settings and limit the amount of bandwidth available to that Mac address of your aunt's phone. I'm assuming you are running the rest of your connections as 'default' or 'open' bandwidth, so that won't be a problem again until someone else connects to your WiFi with an iPhone. If you must, prioritize your lines and dedicate a fixed amount to each Mac address, so no other units can affect your usage. Hope that helps.

Have your provider do a check on the line. If they find a problem, chances are your router is good. I had a similar problem, and the fix turned out to be disconnecting my sons old TV, the rf cable connector in the back of the tv was shorting out, causing serious interference on the line, which was killing my Internet.

So I figured out whats causing it, but I'm not sure how to fix it. Whenever my aunt comes to visit her phone connects to my wifi and kills it. As soon as the wifi on the phone is disabled it works fine.

I'm not familiar with smart phones at all, so I'm not sure what to look for that would be causing issues.
