I've run RAM tests and had 8 passes. In fact, my RAM is relatively new (bought in 2013) and I think it should not have any problems.

However, my whole system (windows 7) getting OBVIOUS lag and slow even after clean installation. I don't run any Photoshop or any video editing and I don't install any games which may require a high performance PC. Most of the time I use computer to download videos or view documents or the most 'extreme' case is to watch youtube videos.

My CPU is intel i5 2400 bought in mid 2011. I want to test if it has any problems. I don't know anything about overclocking and I don't do any overclocking.

I've downloaded and extracted Prime95, and I've also registered an ID on their website.

I'd like to know what's next. It looks quite complicated for me. How to start testing my CPU with Prime95? Is there any simpler step-by-step routine for me?

Thank You very much!

If you are not overclocking running Prime95 is not necessary, you probably have too many programs starting using up your system resources.

You can take control of that yourself and limit the programs that auto-start, since the majority of them you won't even use every time you use your computer.

Taking control of your startup programs doesn't mean they're not available to you when you need to use them, as they are, they just take a little longer to start when you want to use them.

To take control of them click the Start ICON lower left.
In the option selections, choose Run.
Type in msconfig and press Enter.
The System Configuration Window will Open.
On the opening window under Startup Selection choose Selective Startup.
Then click on the Startup Tab.
Disable everything then find your Anti-Virus program in the list and click a check next to it and Enable it only.
Click Apply and then OK.

The machine will popup a warning when you do it and when the machine restarts just OK it, and check the Do Not Inform Me Again Option.

Reboot the computer, you should instantly notice it is responding faster.
