Hi everyone hope someone can help.

I also hope this is the right place to ask this. I am using Windows 7 SP1 64bit Edition, when i open my task manager and look at the services there are over a 150 services there, i know a lot of them will actually be windows stuff, but i want to know is there a way to easily identify the others? like some software or application?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That sounds about right. The description of the service should tell you what it is. I'd advise against messing with them unless you know what you are doing; disabling an essential service can make your Windows unstartable.

So the amount of services is not unusual? if thats the case im more than happy to leave them alone, i was just worried there were a lot of unnecessary ones from software i might have installed and then removed.

Quick check on my laptop shows ~150 or so services of which 72 are currently running. So 'sounds about right'

If you want to see what they all do click the 'services' button on windows task manager - it will open the local services snap-in for the MMC. Clicking on the services there will give you a lot more info on what each one is actually doing.
