i'm going to upgrade my laptop ram
but not sure upgrade it to (2gbx2 =4gb) or (2gb and 4gb =6gb)
cuz i heard that 2gbx2 will work better for dual channel feature than (2gb stick ram and 4gb)
my laptop is Dell inspiron n4050 intel i3 processor
and now i have only 2gb ram
i use it for internet surfing and some games like league of legends and some Photoshop and 3dmax

2gb plus 4gb probably won't work. Ram is sold in kits of identical sticks. So do 2 x 2gb if you can't afford 2 x 4gb

2 + 4 GB will work, but in single channel mode.

If you buy a second 2 GB stick, it has to be as identical as possible to the existing stick to run in dual channel, and even then some people say it can be flaky which is why RAM is often sold in tested pairs.

The real-world advantages of dual channel are usually said to be about 10% for RAM speed over single channel.

If you're not buying 2 x 2GB but just adding to the existing RAM, you'd likely be better off buying the 4 GB stick. You'll notice more benefit from 6 GB single-channel over 4 GB dual-channel, in my opinion. (If you're running a 64-bit OS of course.) 4 GB dual + 2 GB hard-drive access will be slower than 6 GB single.

Plus you can eventually swap out the 2 GB for another 4 GB and have 8 GB in dual channel if you want (provided again you get a matching 4 GB stick).
