I bought a prebuilt gaming desktop a while back, and it has begun making a weird clink sound at random intervals, im pretty sure it didnt do it when i bought it, it also has begun having problems with random splitsecond freezes in games, and i was wondering if the sound had anything to do with it, when shutting down the computer it will often make the sound 2 or more times in succession (random but short intervals).

I've uploaded a video to youtube, where the sound can be heard in the end (the video is 6 seconds long):

I was hoping someone with knowledge on the subject could tell me, if a desktop is supposed to make such a sound, or if there is something wrong

That is a really strange noise. It sounds like it might be a fan rubbing on a cable somewhere? The way the noise fades really quickly sounds exactly like a fan blade that was stopped quickly by a cable interfering.

Places to check: CPU cooler, video card fans, any case fans. Did the split second freezes occur at the same time as the clinking? It might also be a failing hard drive, tough to tell from the recording. Can you open up the case and turn on the computer then shut if off and see if you can duplicate the noise and try to hone in on the source?
