itried to install expansion card on gigabyte 58 series motherboard which had no usb 3.0. the ports on back of card work but lost my front 2.0 ports, there also seems to be a problem with available power as wireless usb gets strange when portable hard drive is used.. is it a bad card?

from my experience it is hard to find a good usb 3 expansion card. is it a pcie x1 or old 32 bit pci? are you using any other pcie slots, like a x16 for the motherboard? are you sure you didn't unplug the usb 2 header that goes to the front case ports? you might have knocked it without knowing

you motherboard may have extra usb 2 headers, try moving the case plug to another header and test them all. make sure the pins inside the usb ports are bent and touching the metal frame of the usb plug

i can't help you with the "available power" problem because you're not being specific enough

after a lot of messing around it seems that all original usb 2.0 on motherboard may not be being seen by system. I have even tried removing card. there is power to connections as portable hard drive lights up but cannot access. iknow there is some sort of power issue when using card as when portable hard drive is operating ,after awhile the other connections, mouse and wifi start acting up. would adding second pci 3.o card help ?
