My rig, is not that bad:
Amd r7 265
Amd Athlon x4 630 @ 2.8ghz
8 gb gddr3 ram

My computer can run most game on medium/ high. But im wondering on other games like assassins creed unity, far cry 4, and gta 5, my computer cant even run them at minimum settings. But the ps4 can run all these games flawlessly. I've searched for this question, but no one gave a good reason why. How is this possible?

Alright thanks, but how come the ps4 is more powerful than my pc? I have a ps4, but honestly I hated it so much that i gave it to my little brother. I've spent about $120 more dollars on my pc than the ps4, why was it so cheap?

The PS4 has a custom 8-core AMD Jaguar CPU that runs at a base clock of 1.7Ghz but it can ramp up to 2.8Ghz according to Sony. Benchmarks have shown that this CPU is quite weak, however the point that the PS4 will really shine at is HUMA/GPGPU rendering, where basically utilising the 8GB GDDR5 memory and internal graphics chip that the PS4 has the GPU in the PS4 will be able to take care of all of the physics and AI rendering that really bogs down a CPU but is really efficient on a GPU.

The PS4 has a greater bandwidth than your GPU and it is shared as well. On top of this, the 8GB of GDDR5 that is shared between the CPU and GPU of the PS4 will help as the heterogenous nature of the PS4's architecture removes any normal bottlenecks that come from streaming textures in. The total performance of the PS4's GPU is known, but not completely as it does take tech from existing high end GPUs like the 290X which is significantly better than your GPU. Regardless, the proven teraflops performance of the PS4's GPU is greater than the R7 265. The PS4 is sold for a loss but isn't so cheap that Sony loses so much money selling it. The reason it is so cheap is because the PS4 has to be cheap enough so that people can buy them.

When you say that you have spent $140 more, it makes me think your rig is worth $600. Which I assume it is. $600 is generally a low end gaming PC. All the graphic power of your computer comes from mainly the processor and the CPU.

^ You mean the CPU and the GPU, you said CPU twice :p

The three core parts of a computer are the CPU, graphics chip or card (GPU) and the RAM.

thats upsetting, but thanks for the help. Also, what upgrades do you recommend, my max budget is $300, but will go to $350 if i have to.

I would buy a GTX 970 and get an Intel Core i3, i5 or get an AMD FX 8320. If you can't afford the GTX 970 there's always the R9 280 or the 270X which is significantly faster than your current GPU, but not massively. Do expect to play games at ultra/very high settings though if you can afford this. Don't forget motherboard as well: for Intel go with the H97 platform. I'm not particularly knowledgeable of AMD motherboards, I think the one for the FX 8xxx series is FM3+.

Correct, it does not.
