I'm upgrading from XP to Windows 7 on an old Dell Dimension E510. Will my video card (256Mb ATI Radeon X600 PCI-e) work? In other words, will I be able to find a driver that works with my video card and Windows 7 (32 bit)?
Using this link ( http://support.amd.com/en-us/download ) I've downloaded a driver that is supposedly for my card and Windows 7, but i'm not positive and can't install it on my current XP system. Once I start installing Windows 7 there's no turning back so i thought I would see if anyone could confirm for sure.
I think that you should check and make sure all your hardware has compatible drivers. If its old enough, and it sounds like it is, you may not have drivers for all your hardware.
Thanks. I ran the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor utility and the only hardware issue it identified was associated with my current video card driver not being compatible with Windows 7, so I think I should be in good shape if the video card driver I downloaded does work with Windows 7.
