I have a tomtom gps and its need is never in the 2014 world. From what I understand they have ARM cpus? 32mb ram. I am very bored lately and I want to run a custom os, i was hoping dsl but I guess it doesn't support arm cpus. I am currently Working on clearing the factory stuff off it but im really wondering if what im trying to do is possible without special software and other things I don't have. I am hoping to hear from someone that knows more about this stuff.

You won't be able to use any regular distribution. At most you may be able to add additional Linux software and solder an SD card for additional storage

The most information I have found is from opentom.org, whose site is inexplicably down at the moment. You can access it through archive.org.

You should note though that this device already runs the linux kernel.

I'm sure there is someway to get a TTY.
