Ok so I have an AMD Asus computer
Model: CM1745-04
Version: 5202
Brand: American Megatrends
Processor name: AMD-A8-5500 3.2GHz
Code Name: Trinity
Specification; AMD A8-5500 APU with radeon HD Graphics
MOBO: Asus CM1745-04 5202...i think
64 bit
1x PCI slot
1x PCIe slot x1
2x PCIe slot x16
all 1.0 i believe from what i found online

i hope this is enough info, if not let me know
A friend looked at my computer specs and told me that a certain G card would work in it, so i bought one since i wanted a new one and it wont work, it gives no signal to my monitor at all and i have already sent one back for being defective and i dont wanna have to do it again, i need help badly.

Card: Sapphire R9 270
link to item on newegg: http://

Basically I wanna know what card will work with my computer, if this one i put in here will not work, cuz as of now it isnt working for me...no signal.
I would like to understand how to determine what fits with my MOBO like G card wise. Thank you!

This may be a stupid question (but this is how troubleshooting normally goes).... Did you make sure to have the video cable from your monitor connect to the graphics card and not the motherboard video port?

Also, i heard that there are some issues where people have tried to put graphics cards into their pre built computers and had issues getting it to work though this is a first time I heard this for ASUS Desktops.

I'm assuming your power supply is either 300 or 350W.

Does your power supply have at least a 6Pin PCIe power connetor? With that PSU, I'm assuming no which is why the R9 270 failed to turn on, unless you had an adapter to convert a molex 4 pin plug into a 6 pin connector but that is definitely not recommended.

Also, since your CPU or APU in this case is not really old, I'm assuming your PCIe specs are probably 2.0 and not 1.0 or 1.1 since those are old versions.

You could put a decent graphics card in your computer but you won't get the most out of it with the APU/CPU of yours.

I recommend getting a 7750 or GTX 750 Ti card (better) and that is the most I would recommend with that PSU and CPU. Those cards generally do not need any external power connectors and since you have an x16 PCIe slot, that should be good.

I have a Thermal tank 600W PSU
Also the connector from the PSU to the card fit in to the slot to power it correctly. It gets power and runs im sure because the fans on the card run, but no signal to the monitor.

It is possible. Could you try the graphics card in another suitable computer and see if it works there?

When you run the R9 270 in your own desktop, does it seem to operate normally? Fans spin at normal speeds? Just no post beeps from the mobo?

I have no other suitable computer to try it on. GPU works like it should powers on and fans spin, all plugged up correctly. I dont know what p[ost beeps i am looking for, so ill go ahead and ssay no then.
but i did find my actual MOBO which is F2A85-M. yet i went on pc part picker i could not find my MOBO in their list only alternate versions of it. But in the alternate version of it, they were compatible with my GPU. So i am just at a loss here, and so very confused.

I have tried uninstalling the drivers for my old one, taking it out and installing the new drivers and sticking the new one in, but to no avail nothing will work.

Know any friends that have suitable computers that you could test it on?
Ok, so the graphics card seems to power up fine but just no display signal whatsoever.

Post beep is a beep you hear from your desktop when you turn on the computer. It beeps to let you know that it posted without issues or everything with the motherboard, graphics card, ram and CPU are ok.

Since you have no display signal at all even when you instantly turn on the computer, drivers aren't really the issue since thats after you boot into the OS.

I guess this is the motherboard you have? http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/F2A85M/
The PCIe version is 2.0, not 1.0.

The only thing I could think that could be the issue is graphics card has issue or possibly the power supply still does not have enough power but not entirely sure.

Well I had a friend come over and literally all be did was stick the card in the slot and it worked. He claimed it was just a finicky computer. So it works and I'm happy!
