Front USB 3.0 Ports don't work on brand new build.

My case is the stryker. Motherboard is ASUS rampage. Microcenter built this for me, and I just picked it up. All the USB 3.0 ports on the back motherboard seem to work fine. Even the 2 USB 2.0 ports at the front work. It is just those two 3.0 front ports. My OS is Win 8.1. Is there any kind of trouble shooting before I took the trouble of taking this giant rig into microcenter. It's just that I am in New York and I would have to pay a lot to cab it over. like 60 dollars... What could possibly be wrong with it?

There is a cable from the front USB 3.0 that plugs directly into the motherboard. I would check that first to make sure it is not loose at the motherboard connection or at the case connection.

Also, you could go into device manager and see if there is a yellow question mark in the USB folder.

Would the cable that connects the front USB 3.0 and 2.0 be the same? Because the 2.0's work...

And as far the Maarkr's comment..are you saying there just might not be any front USB 3.0 connectors? meaning even though it's on the case, there might not be a port for them on the mobo?

I did not build this..i wouldn't what goes where...is this an easy fix?

No, it would be a different cable. USB 3.0 port on the motherboard is also twice as long as the 2.0 port. Can you be more specific about your motherboard as there are a few Asus Rampage boards and then we can see if it has a 3.0 header or not. There are builders out there that will use a case with 3.0 ports and then use a motherboard with only 2.0 headers but I doubt Microcenter would do that.

If it is a loose cable, yeah, very easy fix.

The Mother Board is the Rampage V Extreme...designed for the x99 chipset...Is there any more information needed?

Could it be possible that there is only one cable connecting all the USB 3.0 ports and it was a choice between all the ports in the back or the 2 in the front?

Just to say the whole build in case anything else is relevant.

i7 5820k, 2 Asus Geforce 980's SLI, Corsair liquid cooler, and 34 gbs of DDR 4 2400

Maybe there wasn't enough room for the cable?

I am a little annoyed just because the guy checking me out was this older impatient guy that literally yelled at me because I was asking too many questions, and requesting we boot it up before I take it home!.. It was shocking when I just spent like 4k on a computer. I actually wanted to check the USB ports, and thunderbolt ports to make sure they were all good before leaving, but didn't want to push it. I use to work at the Apple Store and if I ever made a customer feel that way I would of been fired on the spot.

I guess this is why all of you guys just build it yourselves.

This.

But, back to your problem, I believe that board has two USB 3.0 connectors, one on the bottom edge of the board, and one next to the 24pin connector. If you cant be bothered to return the PC to the shop you bought it from, try to open the case, find the front panel USB 3.0 cable, and see if it is plugged in. You can view tutorials on youtube showing how to connect everything to a MOBO that should help you.

Okay cool, I will try that. I hope I don't unplug the wrong thing. Other then it runs beautifully. Can't believe how quiet and cool it is ... Still I am calling microcenter to complain. That is just way unacceptable to leave a plug unplugged.Thanks.
