what current game titles get an fps consistency/rate boost from the I7 vs I5? has anyone heard anything about games in development that will utilize hyperthreading/more cores? Thanks
I think you misunderstand what hyperthreading does. Basically, it splits a single physical cpu core into two logical ones. With this the CPU can schedule multiple tasks per core at a time intelligently. This allows for high utilization of each core.
Games usually do not directly address hyperthreading, this is mostly done through directX. Devs can setup treads through the API but hyper-threading is lower level. DirectX 12 might allow this, as they are going closer to the metal. You can expect any DirectX 12 game or Mantle games to use system resources in a more efficient manner.
