My 360 controller that used to connect to my pc isn't being recognized anymore

I purchased the 360 adapter over a year ago and have been using the 360 controller on my laptop since. However like a weeks ago I tried using the controller, and it seems that the adapter is not recognizing the controller. I tried re-downloading the adapter software but that did't work. I thought maybe the batteries are low so I recharged them and still nothing. What can I do to get my controller working again?

It is an xbox 360 pc wireless gaming receiver. Plus I'm not looking for a way to use my wireless controller on my PC. I am trying to figure out why my controller wont pair up with the receiver anymore.

It works now. awesome. thanks. gonna have to keep that video link in handy just in case this situation arises again in the future. again.. thanks
