Does swapping your SD card help you get more RAM?

Hi guys,i just want to know if swapping a partiion from the sd card will give you more ram? So i have a 16 gb class 10 SD card and i already tried once i didnt saw much difference.I've ony 512 mb ram and even subway surfers is struggling will it help it if i partition it?I\ve an Xperia E1 and the xperia M the same specs but with larger screen and 1 gb memory is doing way way better in games than my phone.So will i benefit if i partition a gig or two or it will just drain my battery uselessly?

Nothing will add RAM to your cellphone. Partitioning SD card will never add any memory. You can't add RAM to a cellphone. SD card is for storage.

Also, E1 has Cortex A7 with a weaker GPU, which you can't quite compare with Snapdragon S4 with stronger GPU of the Xperia M. S4 has much better single core performance than A7.

You might be able to use some of the SD card as swap space, but it's slower than RAM and will reduce your SD card's life.

I don't really care about its life span, i have plenty of SD cards. I just want to play light games without struggling.

I hadn't heard of Swap space before, Someone Somewhere, that link should help.

OP, apart from that method, use less RAM intensive tasks, have only the critical apps running. The same old 'simple and clean' use tip.

Swap is the Linux name for a pagefile or virtual memory.

How much memory is free when your phone does not have any apps open (I don't mean running here)? Check by going to settings> Apps.

When i go to settings > apps > running now it shows me 90 mb and settings in using 80mb sometimes i see 90 mb free and nothing is lagging other times i see 300 mb free tbh no difference i mean slow or freezes when i like open settings jump from home screen to another but games are realy struggling ><

The main issue is your RAM, since the phone has lots of pre-installed apps, the memory is usually not completely free to accommodate games. I'd free up internal phone space.

Then I'm afraid you're out of luck, 512Mb is not sufficing your needs it seems.

subway surfer takes around 150MB while running
to make sure that 150MB ram is available to game, use advanced task killer to clean ram and then go to settings to see if you have 200+ mb ram free and then try to run game

if it still runs slow even after 200+mb ram free before gaming then it can be due to weak cpu and gpu
