can a heavy cpu cooler damage the motherboard?

Solution
Most likely not, if you drop your system or something it will put more stress on the board than a lighter cooler so if you move your pc a lot you might want to look at something else. It will put more stress on the board but its nothing that it cant handle, you will be fine if you install it right. If you are really worried you could get an all in one liquid cooler instead for peace of mind

i personally prefer liquid coolers whether it be all in one/premade or one that you created yourself. i personally have the h100i and it costs the same as the noctua nh-d15 last i checked and i haven't seen how the noctua performs but i'm pretty sure any water cooler will outperform an air cooler.
that and since it's about pressure and weight it's just a water block that would be mounted to your cpu so yeah...i'd go with a liquid cooler if you're going to spend that much money on a cpu cooler.
