My build is:
i5 4690k
msi z97 gaming 7
gtx 970 g1
PSU : Antec 620 W.

I built it yesterday and i got a stock cooler on the cpu. When I run tasks (usually simple one like installing a game) it gets up to 96-99 C, when idle it is about 50-60 C. Is it because of the cooler or the build?maybe I assembled it wrong or the PSU is too weak. Please let me know.
Thanks.

Something isnt right, even for a stock cooler. Remove and re-paste again. You can try getting some better thermal paste or even aftermarket cooler. I'm using Hyper TX3 (20$) and never pushed more than 70c oc'd to 4.7ghz.

Honestly I didnt put any paste since there was some on the cooler itself. Could it be it? I want to buy the Noctua nh-d15 so i Think that it will solve it

Is the cooler installed correctly? When you install the stock cooler you need to push the tabs fully home until they click, this usually slightly distorts the motherboard.

Also, make sure the processor is not overclocked, the stock cooler can't handle the heat produced by overclocking.
