As stated in the title, my 64-bit Win7 Pro (SP1) sees only 16GB of RAM, while 32GB is installed.

The motherboard is an ASUS B-85 PLUS with 4 slots (2 banks of 2). Each slot has 1 Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) SDRAM modules installed, and I've checked to make certain that they are seated properly.

I could take it back to the guys who built it, but it's a 50-mile round trip, so I figured I'd try you first.

Solution
"Each slot has 1 Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) SDRAM modules installed"

This seems like maybe you only have 16GB installed. 2 sets of 8GB(2x4GB) You need to actually verify the memory you have in each slot - is it 4gb or 8gb in each slot.

Thanks... that's exactly what the "problem" was! Now, I have a follow-on question, if I may:

I want to max the mobo out at 32GB. I've read of the importance of installing "paired" or "matched" sticks. I see that there are two different ways that I can buy 32GB - either 4 individual 8GB sticks, or two 16GB "kits" (2x8GB).

Is there any fundamental difference, and if so, is there an advantage one way or the other?

PS: If this is a different issue, I can always re-post as a new Question.
If it matters, I'm considering going with the Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 MHz PC3 12800.

Glad you figured it out and no its fine asking your last question here.

Memory come in kits, more so for convenience and to keep things simple. More popular reason is for reliability when they're bundled and their fabrication is from the same batch, that is true to an extent. Motherboards and Memory are pretty civilized these days long as the specifications are consistent.

If you buy another 2x 8GB sticks, keep to the same speed, timings and voltages. This information will be on the memory stick.
