I have a intel corei5 480m processor on an HP laptop with 3 GB Ram.

I want to upgrade RAM to 8GB. But, the ram supported by my processor is ddr3 800/1066 .

As of now in the market available ddr3 ram is 1666 .

If i upgrade to 8 GB ddr3 1666 will my processor accept the same.

Even if it accepts it will the ram run fine forever ( life of laptop) .

You didn't list the model of the hp laptop, you should. Having 3gb of memory leads me to think you have a 32 bit operating system, which can only use roughly 3.3gb of memory.
Knowing the model will help figure that out. Also you can go to "www.crucial.com" & it will tell you what memory is supported by that laptop.
