hello people,

i've been suffering this problem with my customized pc thats not even 2 months old (besides the HDD which is 2 years old). when i get to play games like league of legends, fifa14, batman arkham origins, battlefield 4 i suffer 1~2 seconds freezes every minute or so. its not fps related issue as i max out those games without fps drop....but it just freezes from time to time and its very frustrating issue.

my specs
intel core i5 4440 haswell
2x4gb kingstone hyperx black
ga-h81m-s2ph
sapphire r9 270x dual-x
seasonic eco 500w
western blue 500gb

troubleshooting i went through:
full HDD check...no errors
memtest86 (4 passes each stick)...no errors
temperatues and voltage using HWINFO64...no errors
unplugged the sapphire gpu and used the integrated vga...same issue.
updated my mb's bios to the latest version froom gigabyte...same issue.

im really not sure what is happening between my pc components...is there any chance of a bottleneck ? is there a file some where on the pc that would actually read glitches or bugs between the system components ?

its just a sad fact that i spent much money (according to myself anyways) for that pc and its doing this.

Solution
Monitor your CPU and GPU usage while gaming, perhaps once of them is throttling down for some reason, other than that it could be a virus/trojan so scan your system with your antivirus and with malwarebytes, let's see what you get from those tests.

Solution
You could use Procexp to monitor CPU and RAM usage, GPU-Z to monitor GPU usage, frequency and temps, just open them and leave them running while you play a game for a few minutes, then take a look at the graphs for each component, usage on each one should be consistent (like 99% on GPU usage, 25%+ CPU stable)

aright so i run a a virus scan and nope...nothing was found and in terms of the monitoring the the CPU and the GPU those are 2 screenshots of my results while playing league of legends (while having the freeze issue).

p.s: im not sure if those screenshots will be enough for you to determine, but i set the GPU-Z to read MAX settings.

If the exact same thing happened when using the iGPU then I would rule out GPU.

I hate throwing out random things but how is your pc connected to your network? Wireless? If so, try wired to test. If you are unable to test, can you create a temporary mobile hotspot and try connecting to it instead? I had a similar issue, took pc to a friends house, when connected wireless to his network had same symptom, I used my cell phones hotspot instead and problem was gone.

I didn't troubleshoot further since it wasn't my place but if that turns out to be your issue I'm sure we can troubleshoot further here.

its wired already, and i dont think its anything to do with networking as im the only individual whos using that router...beside my own smart phone ofcourse....and i have its Wi-Fi turned off.
and i already tried to unplug the GPU to be out of the equation but sadly it didn't even improve performance...as the slight games like league of legends and fifa 14 was running on my integrated VGA but with the same freezes.

btw i tried to install/uninstall the i5 integrated HD 4500...no use.

Check for and close any unneeded processes and then try running the games.

Is that Utorrent running in the screenshot? Close that and other apps that don't need to be running.

Its ok, the answer is out there its just a matter of troubleshooting to narrow it down.
I'm sure others will chime in at some point if you are unable to fix it.

Diagnostic scans can sometimes miss errors so you can often take it a step further. For example, try one dimm at a time and see if the issue still happens. Another user had a similar issue and replacing the swap file fixed it. I'd give that a shot. Its going to be something simple in the end.

DIMM is what people will use to refer to a stick of ram (or sometimes the slot on the motherboard).

He is suggesting you shut down the PC and remove all but one stick of ram. If the issue keeps happening, swap one of the removed sticks in for the remaining one and retry. If the issues still happens again - then highly unlkely that the issue is due to ram problems. You could also leave all the ram in the system and let it run a memtest (downloadable free program) that tests ram (though can take a while).

The swap file is a temporary file that windows uses almost like a slower ram, depending on the system setup/specs you may be able to reduce the size, move the file to different HDD, or eliminate it completely. The hiccups could be occuring because windows is stuck waiting on some data from the swap file and the HDD is too slow to get the data fast enough.

Ok I've seen the GPU usage... if you look at it your GPU Clock core and VRAM clock rates go up and down along with your GPU usage, they all should stay at a same value while gaming, so much variation will with no doubt cause issues like stutter (the stutter that happens when using the iGPU could be because the iGPU isn't able to handle that kind of load, FIFA2014 is practicable unplayable without a dedicated video card).

Maybe there's something else that's affecting when using only the iGPU, but first your GPU should work stable when gaming keeping it's usage at 90%+ and it's frequencies shouldn't fluctuate at all while gaming.

That usually happens for one of these reasons: GPU is throttling down due to overheating which you've ruled out, GPU isn't getting enough power from the PSU (which psu do you have?) or a defective GPU.

i dunno if that might be helpful or not...but at the time the freeze happens i still can remember the sound of the last frame that was shown before the freeze and the game continues on the same EXACT frame...i doesn't skip it...i mean the game doesn't continue behind that freeze...do i make sense ?

Well go through all of the suggestions above and see where you are after that.

This might be a dumb question but you say your pc is 2 months old and your hard drive is 2 years. Did you just throw it in without reinstalling Windows?

no man, i would never do that...you know i JUST installed a fresh copy of win7 and had only the catalyst and the netframe 4.5 installed on C:/ and the freeze happened...its not a software issue, there is something going wrong with my pc !!
