We have that i5 2500 and we encountered issues with multiple games such as Grid 2, Orc Must Die 1, 2 and Also Unchained and now with ...... Dragon age inquisition. Each game the issue was the game doesnt see the CPU as being a Quad but a Duo core.

At first we ve been told its a developer issues that it should get fix with an update or whatever but now I dont believe it anymore. When we go to see the performance in Task manager there are only two graphs. How many is it supposed to show ?

Anyway, the game just got out there might be a patch. Who knows. But that didnt happened with the other games. We re not alone in that i5 situation.

So my question is, Could it be broken or anything ????

Thank you guys..

CPU-Z says theres 2 cores and 2 threads. So what does it mean ?? We went and see the BIOS says theres 2

Sounds like 2 cores have been disabled at BIOS, what mobo do you have? perhaps mobo isn't fully recognizing your CPU... verify at your mobo's website that the i5-2500 is supported by the BIOS version you have (you can see BIOS version at CPU-Z as well under mainboard tab).

I went into Bios for Active Core, I have choice for All, 1 ,2

Last update for bios was about 2 years ago and we updated 6 month ago to the latest.

The Mobo is Intel DP67BA and does support i5.... I real dont know what to say now

Done, I did check that already. you go on the board page and that the first thing they brag about... Whats left to do ?

Is it possible 2 cores stopped working ? if not then there only the mobo being a issue

Whats left to do ?

There's a slight chance that some pin(s) got bent when placing the CPU in the socket, usually that ends up causing bigger problems like failure to boot or instant crashes, but i've seen other situations where a bent pin was disabling 1 ram module or even virtualization so who knows... beyond that if you've ensured the mobo has the BIOS version needed to support the CPU then the CPU is faulty.

Found a video saying to first uninstall the cpu then to gp
Msconfig>boot>advance then checkOrUncheck the first box. In my case it was unchecking it.

I also made sure that '' All'' was selected ine the bios for actives
Cpu.

Hope this helps someone else
