Very low fps on games like: DayZ, Arma.

Hi,
I have an FX 8150, no OC and R9-270x, no OC and 8GB memory.
My HDD has 600 GB left on it so that isnt a problem, I have a Corsair Heat Sink w/ a fan.

My motherboard is AS ROCK 970 extreme 3.

Games like BF3, Warthunder etc run perfectly fine at about 60-80FPS
but the games that I want to play at the moment, Arma 2 , Arma 3 and DayZ (mod and standalone) only run at a mere 15-20 FPS on NORMAL settings in multiplayer, going to LOW fps I still get a mere 30 FPS with drops to 20. I have the latest Catalyst Drivers. What am I doing wrong here? Should I over clock the CPU? or the GPU (I do not know how to overclock the GPU) with just the Corsair Heatsink. Or what should I do? Another option is to sell the CPU and the Motherboard and go for another Motherboard and get an i5 (expensive option and do not have the money to do this at the moment)

Regards

Both games are horribly optimized and it will never really get any better.

Your CPU is what is holding you back. Both games REALLY STRONGLY prefer intel and your fx8150 is not very good. Even an 8350 would help quite a bit.

IPC is what these games thrive on and the 8150 has quite poor IPC.

Your GPU is powerful enough to play Arma 3 at 35fps at very high settings and DayZ at 30fps at very high settings as well.

Your CPU is holding you back. Unfortunately your board is not a good overclocker, or I would suggest overclocking the cPU.

Dayz runs like that for everyone, the game is still in pre-alpha so its stable to play...and thats about it. You do not need to overclock anything at all if you can run BF3 just fine. Its most likely either AMDs issue or Arma and DayZs issue since theyre on the same engine design.

Arma 2, Arma 3 and DayZ are poorly optimized. They only use two cores so you need all the single core processing power you can get and AMD doesn't do the best in that department.

Here are some things you can try:

Make sure you are set to high performance mode, go to Control Panel > System and Security > Power Options and select High Performance mode.

Go to My Documents, Arma 3 and edit your CFG file (open with notepad). Change GPU_MaxFramesAhead=x; and GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=x; to equals 1.

Add -NoFilePatching -NoSplash -SkipIntro -cpuCount=8 -world=empty -maxMem=8192 (edit memory to match your amount of RAM) to your launch parameters (Arma 3).
