Hp-pavilion SWITCHED CPUS now my computer keeps saying wrong cpu and shuts down

On the HP website for my motherboard it says it supports the AMD Phenom ii x4 9xx

I bought and installed an AMD Phenom ii x4 980 Black edition 3.7 ghz and now each time I turn on my computer it shuts back down saying error cpu not compatible???

Any advice please! Thank you!

if you look a little higher on the hp page
Max TDP: 95W

x4 980 is 125W

Put the old one back in then update the BIOS. Then see if it works

@rgd1101 Oh jeezz....-_- I want to shoot my self in the face....is my only option to change the mother board?

Is there any other way to help my poor slim line out? I changed the hard drive to 1tb and installed two 4gbs of Ram and running windows 8.1 and my current cpu when running two monitors (gmail and youtube on the other) hits 90-100% utilization. Temps seem normal though haha
