I'm totaling $864.00 and have a few more things to get. Any recommendations on what to kill and/or upgrade?

I went through Newegg ( aiming to ride on Christmas gift cards most of the way.) Not sure what I am purchasing is overkill, and what I should make better. My main use of the computer is gaming only.

Are you wanting to overclock? If yes, get the ASRock Extreme4 or Asus A97-A. If not, you can save money buy subbing the 4690k with the 4590.

PSU is a nice one but a bit over kill unless you want to CrossFire cards in the future. You could get a PSU for about $70-80 and not sacrifice quality. If you want to CF, you will need a good motherboard.

I'll put it like this, here's a good base overclocking, 970GTX SLI ready PC. For AMD r9 GPUs or Nvidia 700 GPUs, you'll need more watts. It's all on Newegg. Tweak where necessary.

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($239.99 @ Newegg)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM...

Yes. With no overclocking, single card setup, you could build something similar to this. Just go to the site and change the merchant to Newegg. It could save you about $100.
