Faulty motherboard, CPU, or PSU?

My computer refuses to power on. When I hit the switch, nothing happens: no LEDs, no fans. It's just dead-o. I already tested the power supply using the paperclip trick and there doesn't seem to be any response, so I figure it must be either the motherboard or the CPU. All the other components seem to be correctly saddled.

How can I diagnose whether it's the mobo/CPU that is the culprit? Any tests I can run?

Might want to bench it, sounds like maybe a short, missed power connection, or something like that, ensure cord plugged into a live socket, power switch on PSU is ON (if applicable), 24 pin to mobo securely plugged in as well as the 4/8 pin power connector by the CPU (if all that good, then prob want to bench it, have a guide that might help here:
