Will this XFX PRO850W Core Edition Power Supply ATX 850 (http://www.amazon.com/XFX-650W-SERIES-WIRED-BRONZE/dp/B0045L5LGI) be enough to handle an i5 4690k and R9 290. I might OC both of them fairly soon after I get them but idk yet cuz i've never done OC and i'm scared..? Also, I may add another R9 290 down the line so I'm wondering if this will also be capable of handling both of the GPUs in the next 3 years or so or should I buy a 650w-750w now and then buy a 1000w later when I decide to Crossfire? If u have better suggestions for PSU, please make sure it is $120 and under as I really don't want to exceed my budget of $1100. Thx a lot :)

Solution
That XFX 850 could power 290's in x-fire with a 4690k with decent OC. Honestly, the 650w is plenty for any single gpu, if you haven't already bought the 850w

Ok thanks I've been hearing that 850w is more than enough to handle a single GPU such as the R9 290 which I think is a more demanding card right, but would it be enough to handle Crossfire r9 290 (I'm getting twin frozr version btw)? What if i want to OC my cpu and gpu to moderate level? Will it handle it and also last 3-5 years? I've never heard of XFX until now so i was wondering if u have experience with them u can share with me... they have a very very solid review so that would be enough for me but I always like the hear what people on forums have to say :) thanks a lot once again

Again, you will be good. The XFX is a great PSU.
BTW I think I saw a similar thread made by you!

You got it! we are here to help!
Also remember, the trend now is consuming less and less power, look at the new GTX 970 or 980. In a few years we wont need a 850W or bigger PSU.

Agreed, performance wise, a gtx970 is equitable to a r9 290, and the prices are similar. The 2 biggest differences are power requirements and heat, for which the 970 is much more efficient in both. Heat output of sli 970s is somewhat the same as a single 290, when pushed hard, so that may be a factor in your cooling solution for your cpu as well.

Btw, XFX has been around for quite a while now, and their psus are built by Seasonic, one of the best OEM builders worldwide.
