Hi Guys,

Before anyone gets on their high horse about me being a thief, this laptop has been mine since new, Its been sat in a drawer for a while, booted it up today and its immediately asking for a password that I cant remember. I dont get a code after entering incorrectly 3 times.

Ive tried removing the hard drive and also the bios battery but still get the password pop up as soon as I turn on the laptop.

Would anybody know where the bios jumper is?

Regards

Regardless of whether it's your laptop or not, Tom's Hardware does not support bypassing security protocols for *ANY REASON*. Contact Acer with proof of ownership and perhaps they can assist you.

I can't answer for the location of the jumper, but did you remove the main battery (and the AC power cord) when you tried to reset the bios before? If either were still in place, removing the motherboard battery wouldn't work.

You might also want to try removing the batteries, AC cord, and let the thing sit overnight in case it is a capacitor that is holding enough power to keep the bios from going back to the default settings.
