Is 1GB of VRAM enough?

Most games I play aren't that graphically demanding and I use a 1440x900 monitor.

I may buy an R7 260X if I find a good Black Friday deal, but I've noticed there are 1GB models available for about $10-15 less than 2GB. Is the 2GB version worth it?

I would go for the 2GB just out of general principle, no reason to get the potentially far weaker card (say you ever upgrade your monitor or play heavier games) to save that small amount of cash.
