Project cars with old GPU

I had the message "unhandled exception trapped exception_access_violation at 0x00be262f" when i tried to play Project Cars at my pc. When i run it got this and even if i tried to change compatibility settings i did n'tmanage not even to load it (i tried even to run it at 640 X 480 resolution). Propably my GPU (HD radeon 4850 1 gb) is too old to play it although i had no problem with many new games or at least i could load them....
Is there any case to manage to play the game with this GPU or buying new is unavoidable..????
CPU : i7 D920 @2,67 Ghz
RAM : 6 GB DDR3 @1600
HARD DISK : SSD

The other 2 people here are wrong. The card will run it but you have to make the game start in DX9 mode. Add -dx9 to your launch options in steam. Works fine on my 4890 70FPS on low settings @ 1920 1080.
