I didn't realize that anything over 2400mhz for ram speed requires an increase to the CPU Strap to 125 and the BCLK to 125. My BIOS, unbeknownst to me at the time, did that when I hit XMP 2666mhz. So, thinking everything was normal, I played BF4 for a couple hours or so, and I checked my temps mid-game to see where they were at and I realized that I was hitting 4.0ghz when it should be 3.6 for turbo boost. I freaked, but then I saw the CPU strap on realtemp was at 125, so I calmed down because I figured out why it was clocked higher, but I didnt get a BSOD or anything.

if I didn't check my temps I would have never of known. CPU-Z says my core voltage is 1.200.

Is my voltage alright, along with this mild oc? My temps barely hit 55 when under load. Mind you this was all automatic when i hit xmp. I don't OC anything.

asus x99 deluxe, corsair lpx 2666mhz, gtx 980 sli, 1200i psu, h100i

Solution
XMP adjusts both the CPU and DDR3 memory settings so it's an overall profile to enhance performance if possible but without affecting the Intel Power Management setup such as Speedstep.

Since you are stable and running within temp then don't worry about it. That's fine and perfectly normal.

FYI, your BIOS should tell you what the Turbo frequency has changed to when you adjust the profile.

guess I didn't see the frequency changed when I hit save/exit. It says the frequency is 4000mhz when I go in their now
