I am intending on building a computer for someone and I have a decent build in mind but I was hoping that someone could edit my build and perhaps make it cheaper without sacrificing the quality of it. Their budget is $300, give or take $25. Here's what I have:

The PSU in this build is better and the Pentium is worth the extra cost. The HDD in your build is a pretty old and slow one, this one is more up-to-date.

Yeah, your link isn't working. However this is about as good as it gets for around $300....assuming its for gaming, if its for browsing the web, word processing etc. then the build would be very different

Sorry about the link, I'll re-post it and see if it works. Thanks for the builds plywrlw! It actually won't be used for gaming so graphics card is not needed. The PC system I'm going to be building will need a 1 TB hard drive and Windows 7 64-bit. The computer will mostly be used for web-browsing, doing financial work, and storing large amounts of photos and videos.

Let's try this again:

Is there anything that can be done to make that list cheaper? Hopefully the link works.

This build is without rebates. What you see is what you pay. The HDD is fine. If you want the start menu back you can download classic shell and with 8.1 you have an option to skip the tile menu and boot straight to the desktop. Win 8 is also faster than 7 and there's a chance you can upgrade to win 10 for free.

Yeah the pentium is definitely worth it. Its unlocked so you can overclock it and get so much moreperformance from it. So much more. Its said you can push upwards of 4.5ghz on a decent air cooler. 4.5ghz on a pentium?!?

Edit - whoops its not the pentium g3258...my bad. No u cant OC that one sorry. But an extra 4 bucks for 400 more mhz? Still definitely worth it
