Hi. I am trying to install windows 7 to my stationary computer via USB, but when it gets to "expanding files" it reaches about 6% before it tells me that some files may be corrupted and ends the installation. What can i do to fix this?

I got 1 ssd and 1 hdd. tried to install on both. -failed

Tried the RAM trick - failed

Tried AHCI/RAID/IDE - failed

tried 2 different Windows 7 (both tested working on my laptop) - failed

Tried unplugging all but the SATA to the hard drive I am installing windows to - failed

I am getting pretty dismayed by this. I would apreciate the help.

EDIT: Both the Hard disks are completly clean and formated.

I just had this same problem. Took me a few days and a lot of switching out components, but, found the problem.

The heat sink on the motherboard chipset main chip had old heat sink compound that was burnt and not working correctly and was over heating and causing errors on my disk transfers.

I cleaned it real good, put new heat sink compound on it.

Problem solved.

Hope this helps someone, it sure had me going for a few days. :)
