Hi,

I am using a SATA OCZ agility4 SSD. It was working good in my old system. Recently I updated my system and installed MSI z97 PC mate motherboard. The problem is the motherboard cannot detect the SSD but if I hit DEL while booting up and enter into BIOS menu it can detect it. I do not know what the problem is. It looks like if I do not press DEL it is skipping the SSD. I also have a 750GB internal mechanical drive which the motherboard recognizes. And also I do have a DVD RW drive. When the motherboard do not recognize the SSD it also do not recognizes the DVD drive. It looks like it skips after it found the mechancial drive. But if I press DEL and enter setup everything is normal.

My bios setting are as UEFI+LEGACY (in SSD)
OS default windows 8.1 and second windows 7 (in Hard drive)

Solution
Hi there hirajhil,

You can try updating your MOBO drivers(especially the SATA ones). Apart from that, you can try removing the SSD from the boot order.

Cheers,

The boot order is set to my mechanical hard drive, then SSD, then cd/dvd. this is important since the system first looks at HDD then transfer control to SSD. The funny part is when the system cannot detectssd/cd dvd it cannot even recognize the usb ports such as my usb mouse. I had to connect my keyboard to ps/2 port for navigating the bios in such cases.
