I have a Compaq Presario SR1311NX pc, what can I do to hotrod it?
Example, faster processor, more ram, etc. I know that it is somewhat of a dinosaur, but I got it off of ebay for $25.00 + shipping. It came with a legit installation of Windows Vista Business and the OEM Windows disc, so I guess I didn't do too bad.
Any suggestions?

Well, not much. It's socket A, which limits you to Semperon or Athlon 3000 series processors on the lower end. The fastest CPU you could put in it is the Athlon XP 3200+ 2.2 GHz that maxes the front side buss and the memory, which you are limited to 2 GB max PC2 2700/2100. That's non DDR2 so 184 pin sticks. It has an 8x AGP, so you could put in a nice AGP card and play something like Star Craft or Duke Nukem. The issue is that all of that hardware will cost more than the PC is worth. The RAM isn't cheap anymore and good AGP cards are rare and expensive. The CPU is cheap though, if you can find one.

THANK YOU , That is what I figured......my money will be better spent on building a barebones machine. I will just use it as a "Dummy" storage machine. Or at least until it is phased out of relevance, or Vista support ends! LOL!
