Hi! I'm new to building computers but I wanted to get your guys input on a Windows desktop I'm planning on putting together.

I use the internet heavily, whether it be playing multiplayer games, skype, or youtube/general internet browsing. Because of this I would think I'd need a better wifi card, but I don't have room in the budget. Are their any parts that I can skimp to balance this all out?

I play games like Spore, Simcity 5, Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 (The new 4 will be coming out soon), Terraria, Sims 3, Portal 2, Battlefield 4, Blackops 2, Minecraft, Starbound, (I want to be able to play the upcoming Dying Light), etc games like that. (I have a weird mixture in game tastes lol).
I also use programs like Photoshop and Flash CS6.

Are their any parts that I could swap out for cheaper but still get good performance? Is the one fan I have on the list enough?

Honestly I've gone over my budget of 1,200 (including a monitor).
Would you guys be willing to help me configure a computer that's suited for my needs? I'm a complete newbie when if comes to this and I don't want to mess up.

Thanks!

Thanks. Here's my take. My only question is, is there a specific reason you picked a micro ATX motherboard for a mid tower case?

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($219.99 @ Amazon)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($31.99 @ Directron)
Motherboard: ASRock H97M PRO4 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($77.98 @ Newegg)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($75.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: Crucial M500 240GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($99.99 @ Amazon)...
Drop the velociraptor and get a 2tb drive at the same price. Also is your budget strictly 1500 because thats a very "cheap" motherboard compared to the rest of the system. (You're spending more on a hdd than on a motherboard)

I'd suggest dropping the ram down to a 60 dollar kit of 2x4gb and bringing up the mobo to an atx 120~ dollar model

Also I have no idea how if compiling code benefits from an i7 or if your photoshop work load requires more than an i5 but if they don't then I'd recommend grabbing the i5 and pocketing the change. Or upgrading the PSU + Mobo to something just a bit more expensive so that you have the option of SLi'ing later.

Also how much modded skyrim do you intend to play? If you're like me and its pretty much all you play then a 2gb card might be a bit low. Fine for everything else except an extremely graphically modded skyrim. Just thought I'd bring that up.
