Hi! I'm new to building computers but I wanted to get your guys input on a Windows desktop I'm planning on putting together.

I use the internet heavily, whether it be playing multiplayer games, skype, or youtube/general internet browsing. Because of this I would think I'd need a better wifi card, but I don't have room in the budget. Are their any parts that I can skimp to balance this all out?

I play games like Spore, Simcity 5, Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 (The new 4 will be coming out soon), Terraria, Cube World, Sims 3, Portal 2, Battlefield 4, Blackops 2, Minecraft, Starbound, (I want to be able to play the upcoming Dying Light), etc games like that. (I have a weird mixture in game tastes lol).
I also use programs like Photoshop and Flash CS6.

Are their any parts that I could swap out for cheaper but still get good performance? Is the one fan I have on the list enough?

Honestly I've gone over my budget of 1,200 (including a monitor).
Would you guys be willing to help me configure a computer that's suited for my needs? I'm a complete newbie when if comes to this and I don't want to mess up.

Thanks!

Here is a built that should be fine for your needs. It's overclockable and around your budget, although it uses quite a few rebates to achieve that price.

You probably will only need an i5 and 8 gb of RAM unless you want to do heavy editing or rendering, they don't really help with gaming performance. will you be overclocking? If not than no need for a cpu cooler. Do you want mind rebates and do you live near a micro centre?

Change the 770 to a R9 290 (heck, you probably don't need the power of either). It's cheaper and faster, esp for bf4 (though you may need a higher cap PSU). As byza said, you only need i5 and 8GB RAM and it's probably better to get a 1 TB WD blue (after all, being fast is the job of the SSD), You may want a slightly cheaper monitor.

I don't think I'm going to be overclocking, it seems too risky for me to be playing around with that the first time around. I live a few hours from the nearest Mircocentre :( but it's okay the prices aren't terrible online.

I'll definitely look into the i5 and 8gb of RAM, thanks! Do you have any fan suggestions besides the current cpu cooler? Does that mean I don't need the cpu cooler and should just stick to case fans?

If you want fast boot and load times you could add a cheap SSD like a Crucial MX100. Note that SSD's only help with loading, they don't affect gaming performance.

The stock case fans should be enough to cool the rig without needing extras. If you do find that it's running a bit hot it's easy to add some later. Given that the 4690k is currently going for less than the 4690, you may as well go for an overclockable build. You won't save much on a H97 over a Z97 motherboard either. Personally I would get a 212 evo now, it's much easier to attach it during the initial build than later on if you change your mind about overclocking. It's also going to be quieter than the stock cpu cooler bundled with the cpu, but if you want to save the money it's not essential unless you OC.
