How do you reinstall the USB Host Controller Drivers and all other USB-related drivers when your mobo does not have a PS/2 card and your USB keyboard and USB mouse do not work in windows? The keyboard DOES work in BIOS screen. I installed an update to BIOS (from DELL website) using FreeDOS on a bootable USB flash drive, but that did not work.

Dell Optiplex 320 running WinXP SP3

Any help would be much appreciated!

Plug the keyboard and mouse into the pc, using the power button to turn off the Dell Optiplex 320, then turn on the PC, the OS will reinstall the driver for those keyboard and mouse, because winxp (sp3) comes with the USB2.0 drivers. If those USB devices still don't work, try other USB port, or either the devices or the USB port may have problem. If they work, then you can update the drivers.

Thanks for your help, but that didn't work. What caused this whole mess was I mistakingly started deleting the usb controllers (and perhaps usb host controllers) from the Device Manager window and didn't think about the keyboard and mouse. I did this after researching how to fix an issue with my PC not recognizing my usb printer, even though the scanner worked. (All in one Canon Pixma MP495)
