Solution

takuyaben,

As others have mentioned a Pentium 4 will offer less performance than the Pentium D- which is actually a pair of Pentium 4's.

The Pentium D is also a poor performer and was quite soon replaced by a real dual core CPU, the Core2 Duo. You will need to check the motherboard for compatibility, but it's possible that you could change the CPU to a Core2 Duo or a Core2 Quad. The Socket, FSB, and lithography must be the same as the original CPU. I was given a Dell E520 recently that had a Pentium D 830, and I changed it to a...

Theoretically the game may "Run" but the game will lag utter terribly in a sense that you cant game. Both your Processor and Graphics card is super weak to play any modern games.

You should upgrade your PC altogether with a decent graphics card of at least a Radeon R7 250 available at

http://www.flipkart.com/sapphire-amd-ati-radeon-r7-250-boost-1gb-ddr5-1-gb-graphics-card/p/itmdqz82gsj4gcmw?pid=GRCDQZ82GSJ4GCMW&srno=b_5&ref=420cd92c-24ae-4bfb-9893-ca543ad571ca

Yes that Graphics card is a budget oriented entry level card that can perform decently well on modern games you mentioned on a reasonable monitor resolution of up to 1600X900.

takuyaben,

The Socket, FSB, and lithography must be the same as the original CPU. I was given a Dell E520 recently that had a Pentium D 830, and I changed it to a Core2 Duo E6700 @ 2.66GHz ($25), added +2GB RAM ($18) to have a total of 4GB, and changed the 7300 LE video card to a used GT440 1GB GDDR5 ($25), and from XP Pro 32-bit to Windows 7 Professional 64-bit ($61):

E520 Originally: Passmark system rating = 384, CPU = 613 / 2D= 248 / 3D=72 / Mem=562 / Disk = 522

E520 After : Passmark system rating = 1219, CPU = 2024 / 2D= 457 / 3D=978 / Mem= 828 / Disk=576

> the CPU change was well worth it and for a total upgrade cost of about $125 a very usable backup system.

If this series of Core2 CPU's is compatible, the fastest available is the Core2 Quad Extreme 4-core at 2.93Ghz and which produces a Passmark CPU score of up to 3900. these can become somewhat costly- $80-120, but the Core2 Quad 6700 @ 2.66GHz can cost as little as $25-30 and produce a CPU score of 3600. I changed a Core2 6700 dual core @ 1.86GHz to a Xeon x3230 4-core @ 2.67- which is really the Xeon version of the Q6700 and the CPU score went from 397 to 3632.

With a CPU and graphics cards change, these old systems can perform well.

Cheers,
