Does PCI Express 2.0 video cards work on PCI Express 3.0?

So , Does they work , or 2.0 works only on 2.0 and 3.0 works only on 3.0 ?

All PCI-E forms will work with their previous and sequential forms.

Yes it will work they are backwards compatible.

3.0 will work on a 2.0 without any performance loss even with a gtx 970(the transfer rate of data in 2.0 is not completely utilized even now)

ex . gtx 770 /760 on a dh61ww mobo with a pci 2.0
