Hello! In the next few weeks I'm gonna attempt my first build :D but found out that you need to "ground" yourself while building the PC to prevent static damage to the parts.

Would putting the PSU in the case then plugging it into an outlet (the rocker switched off) ground it? In the UK the plugs are 3 pin. Or should I also take the fuse out the plug? The floors in my house are all carpeted and don't want to risk it.

I've browsed around the forums but couldn't find if this method worked. An answer would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!!

you can buy a strap which you can tie to your ankle or wrist. But thats the 'fancy' way :p

Just make sure you are building on a static free material, like wood (rugs are a big nono), and dont wear socks :p a good thing to do is just tough the metallic part of your case every so often, or something else metallic, to discharge any static electricity you built up in your body.
