Just built a new computer and it will not connect to the internet

I just built my first computer and I cannot get it to connect to the internet via ethernet cable. The error message I continue to receive is "plug an ethernet cable into this computer."

Steps that I have already tried:
1. Tested ethernet cord on two other computers and is working fine.
2. Have installed my ethernet drivers from Gigabyte's motherboard website.
3. Restarted the computer several times.

Any other suggestions on how to fix this?

go to command prompt and type "ping 127.0.0.1" this will test if the network card itself is working appropriately.

Ok so NIC (network card) is working.

Check cable/port on router, and check to make sure cable is 100% in at router and PC. Even network pros from time to time fall victim to only getting the jack 90% in and not working.

Okay I just double checked all wires and everything is good on that side, but still no ethernet connection on my desktop.

Is the computer in the same room as the router or a different room?

Different room. The desktop is being connected the router through a 100 ft. ethernet cable

Ok.

Hell just for sanity check, take pc in room with router and plug into different port of router or take a laptop or other pc and connect using that 100ft cable to verify it.

I plugged the 100 ft ethernet cord into my laptop, and turned on the airplane mode to make sure it would use the wired connection and it is running perfectly smooth.

I have been having some trouble with downloading some of the other motherboard drivers though. Could that affect it?

Specifically the AMD SATA Controller Driver and another driver file that has the name "Efiflash"

yes, if it's a new build then you might not have network drivers from the windows disk.

try installing the drivers that came with the network card/motherboard.

Are the lights lit up on the physical NIC in the desktop? Should display orange and green if a physical connection is present (that is powered). Go to your start menu and type "device manager" to make sure all your drivers are present. If you see a yellow !, you're missing a driver or one is not installed correctly. cheers
