Its driving me crazy I pulled out my gpu and all memory sticks 2 times in a row switching ram sticks in less then 10 min and no advance! I even broke the pci-e lock clip in doing so...

This thing is going on for some time now and its *******. I can't multitask properly or im out of memory and my programs crash all the time...

Im getting desperate on this issue. I tried 4 things already with no progress.

Please help,

Spec:

msi p55-gd55
i7-860
corsair dominator 1600mhz cas 8 4x2gb in dualchannel.

Solution
It seems I have solved the problem somehow but I am still not sure what was causing it. I think resetting cmos on the motherboard did the trick. Strange enough default settings in bios didn't help but it did when clearing cmos on the motherboard. Another possible thing that could have solved it I pulled out two of my ram sticks and started my computer. He used 4gb not 2gb. After that I put the 2 other sticks back in and I had 8gb. Still I did clear the cmos before doing this so it possible was clearing the cmos.

Does all 8GB show up in the BIOS?

I pulled my i7-950 out of storage and threw it back together for a build for a friend. It will no longer read all of its memory at once. Every stick and slot works independently, but the best I could manage was 8/12GB after some fiddling with the settings.

Okay in the BIOS. Occasionally Windows will reserve memory for no reason. Fire up resource monitor and check the memory tab. Hardware reserved is usually the culprit.

run msconfig.exe. Under the boot tab, click advanced options. Check what the maximum memory value is set at.

Push comes to shove (not had much personal success) you can change the amount of reserved memory in the registry. Most times this makes the computer stop booting though, so might want to just re-install Windows at that point.

I also performed the windows memory check no issues there.

You know whats odd there were times he did use the 8gb ''at times'' but not anymore since I swapped 2 other of the same ram sticks...
