Hey guys, I'm new here, and I have come across a very big problem. A few weeks ago, I got Norton Security, and the problems started right after I installed it. It (when installing) asked to delete some programs that would interfere with its installing, and I looked at the programs it wanted to delete, and it was okay (they were just Doom Legacy ROM's), but then I clicked the "extend" tab and I saw it also wanted to delete my 3 current security systems: Webroot, Bitfender, and AVG. I clicked don't remove, and proceeded the downloading. It downloaded fine, but soon after it started getting in the way, trying to delete and uninstall Webroot, and also anything I downloaded. It also turned off my windows firewall and I cant turn it back on. It also changed my settings, and changed all of my (5) web browsers home pages to Norton.com. Last night, I got the message that I had to update (a legit message from windows), so I restarted and updated. This morning, when I opened up my laptop, every single program on my desktop has been deleted. I cannot find them in my search bar, and even my recycle bin has been deleted. I am as I write this trying to permanently erase all remnants of Norton via Webroot, but the x86 file cannot be deleted. I really am screwed if I lose all my programs on my laptop, because I have not backed it up to my pc or any other device. I have the HP Envy 17t-j100 leap motion energy star. Please, f you know how to fix this or get my files back, or even just delete Norton, please answer because I really need it. Thanks.

Hi

Having one anti virus program delete another AV program is a very bad idea as they often fight to the death
(of your Windows installation)

I would re start and go into safe mode with networking

You may need to Google how to get into safe mode on Windows 8 (not as easy as earlier versions)

then uninstall all antivirus & antil malware software (If you can)

this will take several reboots

download the uninstall program for Norton AV products and AVG equivalent

These should delete remains of Norton products or AVG products

Then decide which program AV you want to install.

With Norton Internet security (recently renamed Norton Security) or any major Internet security suite from MCAfee, Kaspersky etc you want no other full AV...

1 - It's best to only use ONE anti-viruses at a time, so make your choice and uninstall the rest.
2 - It turned off Windows Firewall as Norton has its own.

You could install a Anti malware program which only runs when you manually start a scan
Super Anti Spyware , Malwarebytes and similar probably wont fight with Norton

Because a number of device drivers & services have been installed the files are locked and can not be deleted by rival programs or from Internet explorer

A few paragraphs and blank lines etc in you post would make it easier to read
