As the topic suggests, should I get a single r9 280x or two gtx760s? Also would I even be able to run SLI 760s my current set up is:

650w corsair rm650
16gb
1 2TB HDD
1 240GB SSD
i5 4670k @ 3.4ghz
5 case fans
noctua dh-14s
z87 pro motherboard
dvd drive

and i will be usong dual monitors

Then you should seriously consider the GTX 970 as your main option. It has much better value than the single R9 280X or GTX 760 SLI.

The 760's will beat a 280x provided driver/game supports and nVidia bring out SLI profiles for big game launches. e.g. Far Car 4. so support is pretty damn good these days.

Heck, 2 x 760's will perform ~same as a single 290x. - just make sure your PSU supports its a bit touch and go with 650w, i'd say 700w, to be safe.

Depends on the games you play and the type of games that you will play in the future, SLI GTX 760 should have better performance in games that support SLI and have a decent SLI profile but can run into issues that would cause you to run a single card which would be less performance than the single R9 280X.

Having just seen the price of 970's in the UK now, I'm thinking I will just pick one of those up, to clarify I already have an r9 280x and was simply wondering what would be suggested. Thanks for responding.
