PLEASE HELP! Computer wont boot! only goes to bios screen!

Hello, I just build a computer about 3-4 months ago and it was working fine until I restarted it for a windows 8 update, it froze and then I did a force reset after which the computer will only go to the gigabyte screen, beep, and then just stay there. If I try to press f12 or anything for that matter it won't do anything. I saw many people on this forum had similar problems, so I followed their suggestions about unplugging the ram and re-putting it back in. Then I unplugged the hardrive and SSD and put them back. Nothing seems to work. The most recent thing and why I was resting it is because I bought a new monitor and had installed the driver for it and it required a reset. The computer was overclocked.

Please help!

Try clear the CMOS by removing the CMOS battery, or using the jumper if your MB have one, check the MB manual.

Try all of these methods to reset the board.

You might have nuked your SSD's controller with the hard shut-down. It happens a lot.

Do you know the beep sounds like? because you said the MB has beep. Make sure wait at least 5min after you remove the battery. The PC beep error code: ( gigabyte use the AMI bios) http://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm

Also try using only one stick RAM and the SSD I guess you installed the win8 in it. And if you have onboard iGPU just use it.

So, I pulled the CMOS battery out and unplugged the power supply for five minutes, After I put them back it let me press keys on the bios screen. I pressed f12 and it was failing because it wasn't booting off my ssd.. which had my OS on it.
Why did this happen randomly? any thoughts?

Do you use the uefi bios or legacy bios? If you can boot into the BIOS like in the link, you can try that. http://www.techspot.com/guides/630-windows-8-boot-fix/ I think you may have MBR (Master Boot Record) problem.

Sounds like a case of the disappearing SSD. Sometimes SSD controllers lock up into panic mode when there is a hard shut down or reset, making them undetectable to the motherboard. Contact your SSD manufacturer. Some models can be brought back to life by the consumer. Most of them need an RMA. I've gone through this about 5 times with various SSDs, and you will see that it's a widespread problem if you do some googling, or head over to the manufacturer forums like the OCZ forum and it's like every other thread.
