Hello Tom's. I am thinking about upgrading my motherboard which I only have for 1 day cause I've read that CF os better on 990fx, the motherboard am looking to get is Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3, at the moment my pc specs is:
Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 motherboard,
Fx 4170, but Fx 8320 is already being delivered in 2 days,
8gb Ddr3 1333mhz Ram,
2 x Sapphire Dual-X 2gb 270x CROSSFIRE,
Samsung 840evo 128gb SSD,
Evga 600b psu.

Will I get my performance boosted enough with just a CPU when it arrives or should I get 990fx mobo for Crossfire as well? What else should I consider upgrading? Games I am playing is BF4 and Assassin's Creed Unity.

P.S. I don't want to overclock cause my PSU is not gonna make it long then, I think. All parts I have now are less than month old.

Thanks in advance!

Crossfire should be the same on any motherboard that supports it.

What you are probably referring to is the fact that 990x "only" supports 1x16 or 2x8 pcie lanes whereas the 990fx supports 2x16 or 4x8. Neither of these will make any difference in performance simply because we don't have tech that really needs more than an x8. In the future we will but as of right now, nope. Not much point in upgrading for the future though since well when we have GPUs powerful enough then your CPU/mobo combo will be outdate anyhow. I hope that was helpful.
