Upgrading ram requires to upgrade motherboard

My motherboard is Gigabyte GA-H61M-S1 Motherboard.
It has two slots of ram.
I have a 4gb ram installed, and i wanted to install more 4gb in the other slot.Total 8gb.
Do i have to upgrade the motherboard?
Or it will only show 4gb usable out of 8gb?

Please help me!!!!!!!!!

This motherboard sopports up to 16gb of ram so you are ok.

Due to Windows 32-bit operating system limitation, when more than 4 GB of physical memory is installed, the actual memory size displayed will be less than 4 GB. So what is your OS version, 32-bit or 64-bit?

yea that supports 16gb ram

If your OS is 32-bit you won't see more than 4GB so you can't add more. If your OS is 64-bit go ahead you can add an other module.

8GB of ram usable. It will work fine. Your motherboard can support up to 16GB of ram.
