I am trying to decide between the Dell UltraSharp U2414H and the Asus MX239H, they are both IPS panels of similar size and similar price but I want to know which would be better? I am worried about the Dell monitors 8ms response time (Asus has 5ms), isnt that rather slow for gaming? I also dont know the input lag for either monitor and I know that can be a big factor when gaming as I would like as little ghosting as possible but also have the great picture an IPS panel would provide. Do you guys know which is the better monitor overall? any help would be great thanks!

I have the Dell U2414H for gaming, even a little competetively gaming, movie watching and all that.

I really like it. I don't notice anything bad other than the matte screen, but thats just how people see it.

The stand it comes with is smooth, has great quality.
It does NOT come with a HDMI cable. I had to buy one. It does however come with a displayport cable.
Also, it comes precalibrated - in the sRGB preset. Looks stunning compared to other screens.

The 8ms "lag" is not noticeable, at least not to me, I have always been stuck at 60 fps, looks fine, 8ms or 1ms.
I haven't noticed any ghosting, but I definitely know what it is - have seen horrible ghosting on other monitors.

However - the touch buttons takes some getting used to...

However - the touch buttons takes some getting used to. They are not snappy, and it takes a second to find out if you hit it or not. But I don't expect anyone to touch those buttons all the time, and they look great because they are hidden. You will get used to them.
You will not regret buying this monitor.
