Hello.

I would like to buy some 128GB SSD, because my 1TB WD blue is soooo slow in my ThinkPad Edge E520 :D
I watched that the prices starts around 73USD, that's nice but then I found, that there are lot of differences in the SSD disks.
I mean e.g. synchronous vs. asynchronous, SLC vs MLC (2-bit/3-bit), SDR vs DDR NAND, Onfi, Toggle, TRIM, NCQ...

So that's why I'm asking here. I don't want to spent lot of many for the disk, on the other hand, I don't want to buy some sh** :)

I watched that Crucial MX100 is very favorite, any other tips?
Thank you :)

Solution
Crucial MX100 is a solid choice. Samsung 840 EVO is another good choice.
You might want to consider 256GB for a laptop. 128Gb isn't that much. Your storage needs will vary.

The Samsung doesn't look bad also :)

Well I will have it for system and programs. Now I have 100GB partition and it's enough for me, so 128GB will be OK :)

Well because I can get the Samsung Evo for the same price (and maybe little lower) then Crucial, it looks like good choice, if anyone doesn't offer anything else :)

But I remembered another thing. That "working" with SSD is different from HDD.
I mean, are there any recommendation for formating the driver?
Also I saw somewhere, that is better to turn off fatching in system on SSD etc.
Exist anywhere any good guide for tweaks and settings for SSD like this?

Thanks :)

Thanks :)
BTW can I have maybe one little weird question? :D
Why we want so much to use MLC (and now TLC) chips?
Because when I looked on some pros and cons, SLC chips are faster, more error resistant and have longer life O_O

Price. The cost of production is the main factor. And MLC can reach higher storage capacity

OK, that sounds like a strong reason :D

BTW what is probably lifetime of the Samsung disk? I saw somewhere around 6 years in normal use.
Is that true?

Much longer than 6 years. Probably it will outlive you if you not writing a lot to the SSD.
Look at anandtech reviews of Samsung SSD. It explains the endurance test in details.
Each Samsung SSD series is slightly different.
