Hey all,

I was curious if anyone else was having some FPS issues in certain areas in the new wow x-pac? I recently upgraded my computer and went decently all out which is why I said mid to high-end machine. I was looking around online and saw that with the parts I have that I should be able to run wow on ultra with no problems. So I put pretty much every setting to the max except for anti-aliasing, shadows and SSAO. I have SSAO disabled, shadows on low and anti-aliasing set to none. Everything else is maxed, resolution at 1920x1080 and im playing in borderless windowed with vertical sync enabled. I do usually get 60 FPS, but in some zones, like Ashran mainly, but also in the area before ashran and in some spots of shattrath in talador. I will dip down to the forties in some spots of shattrath, and depending on time of day i can go as low as thirty in ashran. I am just curious if this is something that everyone is experiencing due to the amount of people in these zones or if something is wrong on my end?

Hey,

This is largely normal or the most part. Ashran is a very busy area and taxing on resources. What i've noticed in that area though, is that it's porrly optimized. I have a similar config to you, and get the similar results there, only ifi'm ctual yin Ashran's city area, i'm usually sitting at about 50-70 fps. Once i get into the battle or closer to it, my fps will drop significantly. This is because there are a HUGE number of people in that area, all casting spells, using abilties, etc.

I haven't noticed significant FPS drops in Talador or Shatt, but in some areas they do tend to bounce around a bit. It's mostly because of the population and activity at this point. With your setup, you should be able to play everything completely...

Try playing in full screen if you can and see if that helps. I tend to only run wow in full screen because i'll lose 5-10% performance when i run in windowed.

Is wow installed on your ssd?
