will my quad channel kit work on my 4790k and asus z97 hero board?

i brought the kingston hyperx beast 2x4gb kit but i brought 2 of these packs, so i have 16gb of ram overall, now reading my board it says i need dual channel? although it has 4 slots

is it worth me returning them to amazon and getting the 2x8gb kit? for no additional cost really.

That system is only capable of dual channel configurations. You should have gotten the 2x8GB kit for better stability as well as future expansion.

That said. 4 sticks will run in dual channel mode just fine.

The 1150 runs dual channel with either 2 sticks or 4. 2x8GB will be a little less stress on the MC (memory controller), but either way is fine

so in your honest opinion is it worth me getting the 2x8gb, amazon are offering a free return and free delivery of the other. also considering im not building it yet i have more than enough time, my only con is i prefer the aesthetics of 4 so honestly what should i do?

I'd go 2x8GB, as mentioned it's less stress on the MC (memory controller) than 4 sticks. The only time I fully populate a mobo is to max out the DRAM (like on my rigs, with 32GB (in sig))

I seldom mess with custom loops/water cooling as the gains made seldom justify the cost involved. To many, it's worthwhile, but I've seldom seen it.
